On Monday, September 18, 2006 while on foot patrol in the Panjwai district of Afghanistan, our son Private David Robert James Byers, heroically paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. David’s sacrifice was also paid by Cpl. Shane Keating, Cpl. Keith Morley and Cpl. Gen Arnold in this fateful event.
David was a true soldier, loved by his family and his extended military family. One of David’s favorite sayings was NO GUTS NO GLORY! David was a son, brother, fiancee, father to be, grandson, cousin, nephew, friend, soldier, scuba-diver, bicycle wrecker, rock-climber, practical joker, daredevil, smart-aleck; fun-loving, mischievous, persistent, witty, caring and had a smile that would light up the room.
His is very much missed by his parents Jane and John, brothers Nathan and Alan, his Fiance Chantal Roy and His daughter that he never got to meet Layla, who was born 5 1/2 months after he was killed.
